Transit of Venus Ahora! June 5, 2011

Transit of Venus may be seen today and tomorrow, depending on where you are in the world. In New Mexico, USA we can view later TODAY!!!

Western European perspective holds that this astronomical rarity (once every approx. 113 years) was ‘discovered’ with the telescope in the early 17th century.

The Venus transits were well known by Native peoples in ‘The New World’ centuries before. The Venus Transits of 1518 – 1519 signaled the return of Quetzalcoátl. For more discussion check into this site for my appearances this fall. (Northern California, Oct., Mexico, 2012) I will be giving my talk on what exactly my ancestors may have indicated in their worship of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Winter Solstice of 2012 and the Transit of Venus.

Carlos Fuentes en Memoria

In these times where the wound of the U.S.-Mexico Border experience is in bas-relief, in addition to Fuentes’ lifetime devotion to literature, I am indebted for comments he made in recognition of the Latino/Chicano writers in the North. He said, and indeed, I heard him say in lectures, of Mexico’s heritage being from the Yucatán up to Albuquerque with Ana Castillo (So Far From God). For including our work to keep the memory of our culture alive and honored, I am personally indebted to el Sr. Fuentes. Que en paz descanse.
